Women 'prefer tech to diamonds'

This was in today news.

Below is an excerpt of it.

"DIAMONDS are no longer a girl's best friend, according to a new US study that found three of four women would prefer a new plasma TV to a diamond necklace.

It found that given the choice, women would opt for tech items rather than luxury items like jewellery or holidays.

The study found 77 per cent of women surveyed would prefer a new plasma television to a diamond solitaire necklace and 56 per cent would opt for a new plasma TV over a weekend in Florida.

Even shoes lost out. The study found 86 per cent would prefer a new digital video camera to a pair of designer shoes."

Is this true? Or is this only true in US?
Do my female readers agree with this study?
I know my wife still prefer diamond rings, necklaces, new dresses and new shoes than Plasma TV or a digital video camera.

Electronic gadgets such as digital camera, mobile phone, iPod, notebook etc are considered as MUST HAVE for young girls these days.

Diamond rings, necklaces, designer shoes etc, are for aunties and are considered as a waste of money. Just my two cents. ;)

Young people don't need so much expensive accessories hanging around their bodies. But they need the gadgets to SHOW their bodies. ;p
