Kong Piah

I have lived half of my life in KL and travelled to Sitiawan a number of times. During these times I have not heard or eaten Kong Piah.
I learned of Kong Piah in one of my recent business trip back home. It was in one of a casual conversation with a young engineer, who hailed from Sitiawan. He was proudly selling his home town to me and I guess he thinks I am so "aussiefied" that I forgotten my roots.
Now I have heard and eaten Kiah Chai Peang from Kampar and Bidor, Heong Piah from Penang and Telok Anson, Siew Pow from Karak etc. but Kong Piah! This, off course, opened up a new world for me.
Upon questioning my close friends in KL, most of them have not heard of Kong Piah and it looks like it is only popular in Sitiawan. I came back home and ask David, who hails from Sitiawan, about this Kong Piah. He explained it to me and it is best eaten when it is freshly baked out of the oven. It is baked in an unique oven and different vendor have it unique flavour. I tried looking for a recipe in the net and David with his Foochow connection did not yield any result.
In the last trip back David made an effort to get his friend from Sitiawan, who was dropping in to meet him up in KL, to get some Kong Piah for him.

David bought it all the way back for me to see, feel and taste the Kong Piah. I asked you where can you get a better friend than David. Even though he went back to see his sick mother, he still think of his friends. The Kong Piah is sure one special thing. It not only satisfied my curiosity, it also satisfied my tummy. It tell of a great friendship every time I see a Kong Piah.
