Three Weddings and I am Broke

Yep, another wedding story.

Last weekend we went to another wedding party. This time it was my nephew’s wedding. The wedding was held at Butleigh Wooton Receptions located at 867, Glenferrie Road, Kew, Melbourne.

A simple Christian ceremony was conducted to solemnize the marriage followed by a dinner for 120 people. It was a “low keyed affair” for close relatives and friends. The guests came from as far from US, Canada, China and Malaysia.

Menu selection for the dinner consist of:

Entrée: Wild Mushroom & Parmesan Tartlet or Tandoori Lamb Loin

Main Course: Fillet of Atlantic Salmon or Dijon Crusted Chicken Breast

Desert: Wedding Cake with Berries, Cream and Coulis with coffee, tea, port and chocolate.

The Tandoori lamb Loin was good but the rest was passable. We had better food at other wedding reception.

Getting married is an expensive affair especially today with fine dining. I would estimate the total cost for the wedding dinner alone would be at least between 20 to 25K, roughly about $120 per head. Therefore we have to give large Ang Pow especially the nephew is also our Godson, too. Ouch! We are broke.

Well, with 3 weddings and Ang Pows for the first half of this year, there goes our holiday's money. Boo, Hoo, Hoo.

We hope there will be no more weddings for the rest of this year.

Next year there will another wedding, it is time to save up for another big Ang Pow. Sigh!
